“You are community leaders, major stakeholders, and heads of families,” she said. “That is why we are here, to partner with you in mobilizing the electorate in Epe Division.
We want people to come out en masse on July 12 and cast their votes for candidates of their choice. LASIEC is ready to conduct free, fair, and credible elections, but that cannot happen if the people don’t show up.”
Following a short drama on the importance of voter participation, a club member, Barrister Alebiosu, raised a concern about the possibility of voting in a location different from where one registered.
LASIEC advised such individuals to visit the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office to update their data and transfer their voter registration.
“INEC is aware of the elections and is providing necessary support,” Mrs. Daodu explained. “Anyone who is 18 years and above should visit the INEC office to get registered or update their information and obtain their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC). We urge all residents of Epe Division to act quickly before it’s too late.”
Reacting to the visit, President of Epe Club, High Chief Olayemi Dada, commended LASIEC for recognizing the club’s potential and reaching out directly for the first time.
“This is the first time LASIEC is visiting our club directly, and we truly appreciate it,” he said. “I appeal to our people across Epe Division to prepare and participate in the July 12 elections.
It is our civic duty to choose our leaders. Let us come out, vote peacefully, and support democracy at the grassroots.”
LASIEC Commissioner and Ashipa of Epe Land, High Chief Akim Durojaiye Oluwo, who also serves as Vice President of the club, facilitated the visit.
He emphasized the commission’s readiness to conduct credible elections and stressed the importance of voter participation.
“We at LASIEC are determined to deliver credible elections,” he stated. “But we need the people to play their part by voting. The local government is the closest tier of government to the people. When you participate in the process that brings a leader to office, you earn the right to demand accountability.”
