LASODA’s Financial Support Boosts Operations at Homes for People With Disabilities

In a bid to support the wellbeing and address the needs of People With Disabilities (PWDs) in Lagos State, the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has allocated financial resources and also addressing the medical challenges faced by PWDs.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a recent announcement at the LASODA Office in Ikeja, the General Manager of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, highlighted the agency’s commitment to supporting homes catering to the needs of People With Disabilities (PWDs) in Lagos State.

Oyetunde-Lawal emphasized the state government’s dedication to meeting the needs of all persons with disabilities in Lagos.
In her words, “We are presenting support to individuals and nonprofit homes that have registered with the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs.
We currently have over 80 such homes registered with the Agency, and we are striving to create an opportunity to provide staggered support over time. We are also offering financial assistance to individuals who need to undergo medical procedures.”
The General Manager called for support from the public to back government policies that prioritize persons with disabilities, emphasizing that the current administration is committed to ensuring that every member of society, regardless of disability, is prioritized.
She further stated, “We hope that we can secure corporate partnerships to help us improve the lives of persons with disabilities, whether as individuals or children in homes run by dedicated people who have taken these children off the streets. We will continue providing various support forms, as much as our capacity allows.”

Among the various homes that received funding were the Festus Fajemilo Foundation, Glamour Special School, Out of School Children, Lady Atinuke, Patrick Speech and Language Centre, and Diamond Centre for Children with Disabilities.
In turn, the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the state government through the agency for the support provided in previous years, enabling them to improve their services and raise the bar in their operations.
