Lagos State University of Science and Technology has taken a major step towards becoming a technology driven institution following a strategic partnership visit to Huawei Technologies.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the meeting, held on April 22, 2026, at Huawei’s office in Victoria Island, Lagos, brought together senior officials from both organisations as well as project consultants to explore collaboration in digital infrastructure and smart education solutions.

Discussions focused on deploying advanced systems to improve the university’s operations, academic delivery and campus security.
Proposed solutions include an emergency command centre, a high education network platform, perimeter protection systems, campus wide security architecture and interactive classroom technology.
Vice Chancellor of LASUSTECH, Olumuyiwa Odusanya, said the move reflects the institution’s commitment to innovation and digital excellence.
“We are intentionally positioning LASUSTECH as a forward thinking institution where innovation and digital excellence drive teaching, research, and administration,” he said.
“This partnership with Huawei Technologies is a critical milestone in our journey to create a truly smart campus that prepares our students for the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” he added.
Speaking on the collaboration, Huawei’s Network Solutions Manager, Tim Hanxu, highlighted the transformative potential of the initiative, including opportunities for digital integration across universities.

Also commenting, Awolesi Raphael of RENBAM Telecommunication Company, the consulting firm supporting the project, described the partnership as a model for public private collaboration.
“This collaboration represents a model public private partnership that will deliver sustainable digital transformation for LASUSTECH,” he said, adding that the solutions would be tailored to the institution’s long term needs.
The LASUSTECH delegation included top officials such as Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Prof Abiodun Denloye, Registrar Mr David Ògúngbè, Director ICT Dr Alpha Ebole, Director Information and Public Relations Mr Lanre Kuye and other senior members of the university.
Representatives from Huawei and the consulting firm also expressed confidence that the partnership would deliver lasting benefits for students, staff and the wider academic community.
