Lawmakers at the National Assembly have called on Nigerians to continue praying for peace and unity across the country, as the nation grapples with multiple social and security challenges.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the appeal was made during a Christmas carol service organised by the Christian Legislators’ Fellowship, which brought together senators and members of the House of Representatives.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Amos Magaji, said the birth of Jesus Christ symbolises peace, hope and restoration, values Nigeria urgently needs.

Magaji urged Nigerians, regardless of religious or ethnic background, to embrace peace and allow the message of Christmas to reflect in their daily conduct.
Also speaking, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health (Secondary and Tertiary), Ipalibo Banigo, expressed gratitude to the organisers, describing the Christmas season as a period for sober reflection and spiritual renewal.
The fellowship’s secretary, Bamidele Salami, encouraged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith while committing themselves to service to humanity.
Salami, who also chairs the House Committee on Public Accounts, prayed for national unity and divine guidance for Nigeria’s leaders to enable sustainable development.

Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs, Anthony Yaro, called for collective action in addressing the country’s numerous challenges.
He noted that the Christmas season provides an opportunity for leaders and citizens alike to recommit to peace, unity, and nation-building.
