- Extension of February 2026 food distribution to riverine communities
- Focus on aged persons, widows, widowers and other vulnerable residents
- Door-to-door delivery despite challenging riverine terrain
The Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), has extended the February 2026 phase of the monthly food distribution exercise to riverine communities within the LCDA, reaffirming his ¹administration’s inclusive and people-focused governance.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the phase two distribution is targeted at ensuring that0] residents of hard-to-reach riverine areas are not excluded from the council’s welfare initiatives, particularly the aged, widows, widowers and other vulnerable groups who are most affected by current economic challenges.
Despite the difficult terrain and logistical challenges associated with riverine settlements, food items are being delivered directly to beneficiaries through a door-to-door approach, ensuring transparency, equity and effective reach.
Speaking on the initiative, Engr. Kasali emphasized that governance must touch every part of the community, regardless of location or accessibility.
“No community will be left behind. Our responsibility is to ensure that support reaches those who need it most, including our brothers and sisters in the riverine areas,” he said.
Residents of the benefiting communities expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a rare demonstration of leadership that prioritizes compassion and inclusion.
The Lekki LCDA Chairman has consistently maintained that the monthly food distribution programme will continue as part of sustained efforts to cushion hardship and improve the welfare of residents across the council area.
