EKO HOT BLOG reports that Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio confirmed the development on Tuesday, noting that Inter Milan has submitted a €40 million offer to Atalanta, where Lookman currently plays. The 27-year-old forward netted 15 goals in the 2024–2025 season and was instrumental in Atalanta’s UEFA Europa League success two seasons ago.
Despite Inter’s strong interest, Atalanta are demanding €50 million for the Nigerian international, though they had earlier suggested they would allow him to leave this summer. The Milan club has insisted it will not raise its bid, and the situation remains tense.
“Atalanta are asking for at least €50m, but Inter do not intend to go beyond their proposal,” Di Marzio said.
Lookman, under contract at Atalanta until 2027, is said to have given his approval for the move to San Siro. His eagerness to join the Nerazzurri is reportedly a key factor driving Inter’s urgency to wrap up the deal.
If Atalanta refuse to compromise on their asking price, Inter are expected to consider alternative signings, with Fiorentina’s Nico Gonzalez already on their radar.
Meanwhile, Inter’s newly appointed manager, Christian Chivu, is believed to have identified Lookman as central to his tactical plans. The Romanian coach is keen on building a dynamic frontline, envisioning Lookman playing alongside Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram.

Lookman’s versatility and goal-scoring consistency make him one of the most coveted African forwards in Europe this summer.
