EKO HOT BLOG reports that the transfer includes a guaranteed £66.3 million payment, with the remainder in performance-related add-ons. Sesko becomes United’s third major attacking acquisition of the summer, following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. Newcastle United were also interested, but the forward opted to join Ruben Amorim’s side.
Last season, Sesko scored 21 goals and registered six assists for Leipzig, making him the top-scoring player under the age of 23 in Europe’s top five leagues. At the international level, he has netted 16 goals in 41 appearances for Slovenia, having made his debut in 2021 as the nation’s youngest-ever player.
Speaking after his signing, Sesko said: “The history of Manchester United is obviously very special but what really excites me is the future. When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon. From the moment I arrived, I could feel the positive energy and family environment here. It is clearly the perfect place to reach my maximum level and fulfil my ambitions.”
United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, described Sesko as possessing “a rare combination of electrifying pace and the ability to physically dominate defenders,” calling him “one of the most exceptional young talents in world football.” He added that United’s recruitment and performance teams would provide the ideal environment for Sesko to reach his “world-class potential.”

Sesko’s arrival underlines United’s ambition to assemble a squad capable of competing for major honours in the coming seasons.
