The Nigerian Railway Corporation has announced plans to transport passengers from Lagos to Osogbo at no cost ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration in collaboration with the Osun State Government.
The arrangement was disclosed on Wednesday, March 19, 2026, by the corporation’s spokesperson, who said the initiative is targeted at indigenes of Osun State travelling home for the festive period.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the special train service, named the Imole service, will operate on the narrow gauge line from Iddo directly to Osogbo.
Under the arrangement, the Osun State Government will fully fund the trip, while the Nigerian Railway Corporation will provide operational and technical support to ensure a smooth journey.
In addition to the free service, the corporation outlined measures to manage the expected surge in passenger traffic nationwide during the holiday period.
Extra trips have been scheduled on major routes to meet increased demand.
On the Lagos to Ibadan corridor, three train services have been scheduled for March 19. Departures will leave Ebute Metta in the morning, early afternoon and later in the day, with return trips from Moniya running at intervals.
For passengers travelling between Abuja and Kaduna, two trips will operate on March 19, increasing to three daily services from March 20 to March 23.
The Warri to Itakpe route will maintain its regular schedule of three weekly trips, with one day reserved for maintenance.
Similarly, the Port Harcourt to Aba service will continue without changes throughout the festive period.

The corporation assured passengers of safe operations and urged Nigerians to take advantage of the train services during the celebrations.
