According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have perfected plans to bring Villareal Defender, Pau Torres, to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are understood to be going ‘all out’ for a new centre-back signing this summer with the Villarreal centre-back still under consideration by the club.
The Villarreal defender, who is currently on duty with Spain at Euro 2020, has emerged as a top centre-half target for Manchester United.
With the Lindelof-Maguire pair coming under criticism for sometimes churning out unacceptably underwhelming performances, it is believed that finding a suitable partner for club captain, Harry Maguire, could greatly solidify the team defensively and place United on the launchpad to challenge Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City for the title next term.
MEN Sport understand there is growing belief a deal can be struck to sign Torres in the current window, although any move is likely to take place later in the summer following his involvement in the ongoing European Championship with Spain.

Manchester United are still believed to be keeping their options open in the summer window and are considering a range of back-up options across the board should their plans need to be adjusted.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side had hoped to prize Frenchman, Raphael Varane to North Manchester with a £50m bid, but saw that bid rejected, with Les Merengues insisting that the 28-year-old would not depart the Spanish Capital for less than £80m.
Free agent, Sergio Ramos, has also been mooted as a possible option, with reports suggesting that should the next destination take him to the Premier League, the former Real Madrid Skipper would prefer a move to Old Trafford.
