The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has officially released the results of the 2025 NBC/NTC in-school examinations, revealing a high pass rate in Mathematics and a noticeable drop in reported malpractice cases.
According to a report by Eko Hot Blog, stakeholders across the education sector have described this year’s results as a sign of renewed confidence in technical and vocational education in Nigeria. The outlet also noted that the strong performance in Mathematics may reflect ongoing reforms in curriculum delivery and teacher quality.

At a press briefing in Abuja, NABTEB Registrar, Dr. Aminu Mohammed, announced that out of 85,805 candidates who sat for Mathematics, 81,172 passed, representing a 94.60% success rate. Just 4,633 candidates failed the subject. This marks a significant achievement, especially as technical subjects often face performance challenges across public schools.

The 2025 examination cycle also saw a notable 37.08% increase in enrolment compared to the previous year. A total of 92,875 candidates registered across 1,892 centres, up from 67,751 candidates in 1,708 centres in 2024.
In English Language, however, there was a slight dip in performance. Of the 85,476 candidates who took the paper, 79,575 passed, giving a success rate of 93.10%, down from 95.87% in 2024. NABTEB attributed this minor drop to ongoing adjustments in language comprehension and writing assessments,
On the issue of examination malpractice, 435 candidates were found to be involved in 516 reported cases. The board stated that those involved would face disciplinary action in line with its examination regulations,
