In an ongoing dispute that has captured national attention, suspended Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has escalated her case against Senate President Godswill Akpabio to the global stage.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Akpoti-Uduaghan presented her plight at the Women in Parliament session held during the Inter-Parliamentary Union Meeting (IPU) at the United Nations in New York.
The senator is seeking justice and intervention from global democratic institutions in response to the s£*xua| harassment allegations she has leveled against Akpabio.
Akpoti-Uduaghan describes her suspension from the Senate as illegal and fears retaliation, including the possibility of being held against her will by Nigerian authorities for speaking out in New York.
Tensions between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio reached a boiling point when the Senate suspended the Kogi Central senator after she accused the Senate President of s£*xua| harassment and abuse of office.
This followed a conflict over seat arrangements that occurred on February 20, 2025.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan intensified her legal battle against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, filing a N100 billion defamation lawsuit while facing disciplinary proceedings within the Senate.
The lawmaker sought and obtained a court order to temporarily halt these proceedings, with the case adjourned to March 10, 2025.
On March 5, 2025, the Senate committee dismissed Akpoti-Uduaghan’s petition alleging s£*xua| harassment and abuse of office by Akpabio, declaring it “dead on arrival” citing procedural violations and legal constraints.
Undeterred, the senator resubmitted her petition the following day, reaffirming her commitment to seeking accountability for the alleged misconduct.
