The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has announced plans to hold an inter-company obstacle crossing competition for its Short Service Cadets at the Academy’s Afaka training facility on Saturday.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the exercise was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the NDA’s Public Relations Officer, Maj. Reuben Kovangiya.

According to the statement, the training exercise will run from 6:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. as part of the Academy’s regular military training programme.
Kovangiya said the day-and-night exercise is intended to assess the cadets’ ability to overcome obstacles under simulated combat conditions.
He added that controlled explosive blasts will be used during the exercise and advised residents not to be alarmed by the sounds.
The Academy said the activity will be confined to the Afaka training area, urging residents of Mando, Tsamiya, Kauya and neighbouring Afaka communities to take note of the scheduled exercise.
Kovangiya assured the public that adequate safety measures have been put in place to ensure the training is conducted without incident.
He also appealed to residents and the media to help create awareness about the exercise to prevent unnecessary panic.
