The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted consignments of cocaine and opioids concealed in export cartons bound for the United Kingdom and Australia.
Eko Hot Blog reports that NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, disclosed in a statement on Sunday that the seizures were made at a courier company in Lagos during routine examination of outbound shipments.

According to the agency, operatives recovered 170 grams of cocaine carefully sealed in cellophane parcels and hidden inside the walls of a carton containing clothes meant for Australia.
The agency also intercepted another shipment destined for the United Kingdom containing 200 ampoules of pentazocine injection, 1,100 capsules of tramadol and 100 ampoules of promethazine injection concealed in a carton.
Babafemi further revealed that NDLEA operatives in Delta State raided Ejeonu village in Ukwuani Local Government Area, where 27,500 kilograms of skunk were destroyed on 11 hectares of farmland, while 22.9 kilograms of the substance were recovered.
A 52-year-old suspect was later arrested during a follow-up operation in Obiaruku.
In a related operation, NDLEA operatives in Kano recovered a 25-litre jerry can of palm oil used to conceal 1.2 kilograms of tramaking 225mg pills at Kofar Ruwa motor park following intelligence reports.

Another suspect was arrested in the Sabuwar Sharada area of Kano with 30.5 kilograms of skunk.
The agency also destroyed 37,500 kilograms of skunk on 15 hectares of farmland during a raid in Orogun village, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, where a suspect was arrested.
According to the agency, the combined operations in Delta led to the destruction of 65,000 kilograms of skunk.
Babafemi added that NDLEA operatives in Kaduna intercepted 1,989 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition concealed inside garri along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.
The suspect and recovered ammunition were subsequently transferred to another security agency for further investigation.
In the Federal Capital Territory, NDLEA operatives arrested a 29-year-old businessman allegedly involved in producing drug-laced cakes and cookies for parties and social gatherings.
The suspect was arrested at Life Camp, Abuja, with 800 grams of skunk and 2.70 kilograms of drug-laced cookies recovered from his residence.
Additional operations across Ogun, Oyo, Taraba and Edo states also led to the seizure of narcotics, arrests of suspects and destruction of cannabis farms.
The Chairman of the NDLEA, Buba Marwa, commended officers involved in the operations and urged commands nationwide to sustain the fight against drug trafficking and abuse.
