The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for external candidates.
A total of 84,799 students took the exam, and 57,114 of them (67.35%) passed with at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.

The NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, announced this at the council’s headquarters in Minna.
He stated that 44,227 males (52.21%) and 40,522 females (47.78%) participated in the exam. The results were released 62 days after the last exam, covering 29 subjects.
Prof. Wushishi also revealed that 6,160 candidates were caught cheating, which is lower than the 8,518 cases recorded in 2023—a 27.7% decrease.
Additionally, seven exam supervisors were punished for poor supervision, lateness, and helping students cheat.
NECO blacklisted 14 exam centers for widespread cheating in nine subjects. These centers are in Ogun, Oyo, Lagos, Cross River, and Ebonyi states.

To maintain the credibility of exams, Prof. Wushishi warned that any supervisor caught cheating will be blacklisted, and their names will be shared with other exam bodies like JAMB. This ensures that dishonest supervisors do not participate in future exams.
