The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has delivered emergency supplies to 300 residents affected by the 2025 flooding in Calabar Municipality and Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the distribution exercise, supervised by NEMA’s Director General through the Head of Uyo Operations, Mrs Mmandu Aisueni, followed a needs assessment carried out in collaboration with SEMA, the Red Cross and community stakeholders.

Aisueni urged residents to comply strictly with weather alerts issued by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, stressing that improper waste disposal and environmental neglect often worsen the impact of flooding.

The agency shared food items including rice, spaghetti, salt, seasoning and other essentials, though officials admitted that the number of victims exceeded available supplies. Community leaders were therefore asked to ensure fairness by confirming verified beneficiaries for the final list.
Federal lawmaker Bassey Akiba said the relief materials were part of the government’s support for victims, noting that over 2,000 people were affected and more assistance would be provided once additional supplies arrive.

Residents expressed gratitude, with some describing it as the first relief they had received since the disaster.
NEMA recently conducted a similar distribution in Akamkpa Local Government Area as part of efforts to support communities recovering from the year’s floods.
