A Nigerian-American woman, Victoria Ogunremi, returned $5,700 in cash that she discovered in the restroom of her workplace in New Jersey, United States.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ogunremi’s act has drawn admiration from her colleagues, employer, and the owner of the lost money, as well as Nigerians living abroad, many of whom have hailed it as an exceptional demonstration of integrity.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone interview on Monday, Ogunremi explained that her decision was inspired by empathy for the person who lost the money.
“The thought of the pain or trauma it could cause inspired me,” she said. “I did not hesitate to return it because of my Christian faith and beliefs. Honesty brings peace of mind, and it is the key virtue I cherish.”
Ogunremi shared that she identified the owner of the cash before informing her workplace management, a step that further earned her widespread praise.
“The management was very pleased and proud of me. The owner was incredibly grateful and showered me with praise,” she recounted. “They said it could only have been an act of kindness by a woman with the fear of God to do something like this.”
Ogunremi credited her upbringing for her values, stating that her late father instilled in her the importance of integrity.
“My father taught us never to take what does not belong to us,” she said. “Whether someone is watching or not, doing the right thing matters.
A good name is priceless, and peace of mind is golden. No matter how tough your situation is, always return what does not belong to you. Doing the right thing brings rewards far greater than anything material.”
Her selfless gesture has since become a symbol of integrity and compassion, inspiring many to reflect on the importance of honesty in daily life.
