Reacting to the development, Dabiri-Erewa condemned the sweeping generalisations being made against Nigerians in Ghana, insisting that “Nigerians are not criminals.”
“Nigerians are good ambassadors wherever they find themselves. The few who break the law should be identified and face appropriate sanctions, but it is unjust to label an entire community,” she said.
Emphasizing the historical and cultural ties between Ghana and Nigeria, Dabiri-Erewa described both nations as “Siamese twins,” stressing the need for continued peaceful coexistence under the spirit of ECOWAS regional integration.

She appealed to Nigerians in Ghana not to retaliate or engage in any violent acts, assuring that the matter is being handled through diplomatic channels by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu.
The NiDCOM boss also urged individuals on both sides to refrain from using inflammatory language that could further escalate tensions.
Addressing rumours circulating online, Dabiri-Erewa clarified that there is no verified evidence of attacks on Nigerian-owned shops or property in Ghana.
She warned against spreading unverified content, noting the risk of inciting reprisal actions.

She commended the High Commissioners of both countries for their efforts to manage the situation diplomatically, and acknowledged the proactive steps being taken by Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Let us remain calm and trust that our diplomatic channels are working to ensure peace and stability,” she added.
