The National Judicial Council has recommended 14 candidates to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointment as Judges of the Federal High Court.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday evening by the Deputy Director of Information of the Council, Mrs Kemi Ogedengbe.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to the statement, the recommendation followed deliberations at the 110th meeting of the NJC, which held between January 13 and 14, 2026. The meeting was presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere Ekun.
The Council said it initially resolved to recommend the candidates at the meeting but decided to withhold forwarding their names to the President pending the receipt of security reports.
“At the time of the Council meeting, the security report on the candidates was not available and the Council resolved to await the submission of the security report before forwarding the names of the candidates to the President,” the statement read.
It added that after receiving the security reports with no adverse findings against any of the nominees, the Council formally transmitted the names to President Tinubu on January 22, 2026.

“Having received the security report, with no adverse comments on any of the recommended candidates, Council, today, the 22nd day of January 2026, forwarded the names of the following candidates to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointment as Judges of the Federal High Court,” the statement stated
The 14 successful candidates recommended to the President are:

- Muhammad, Barau Saidu,
- Igboko, Chinelo Conchita,
- Onuegbu, Chioma Angela,
- Galumje, Edingah
- Ibrahim, Vera Eneabo.
- Abubakar, Musa Usman,
- Salihu, Aisha Yunusa
- Ikpeme, Joy Bassey
- Shehu, Umaru Adamu,
- Mohammed, Ibrahim Buba,
- Eigege-Binjin, Nendelmum Judith,
- Usoro, Kuyik Uduak
- Nwoye, Osinachi Donatus.
