EKO HOT BLOG reports that Sunusi announced his resignation on Friday through a video shared on Facebook by his media assistant, Saifullahi Alhassan.
In the video, he said Governor Yusuf was expected to align with the All Progressives Congress APC, a development he described as the reason for his decision to step down.
Sunusi stressed that his political loyalty remains with former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and the Kwankwasiyya political movement.
He disclosed that he had earlier written a resignation letter but was unable to submit it through official channels, as it was not accepted.
According to him, the letter was also forwarded to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, where it was similarly rejected.
Explaining his decision to go public, Sunusi said, “After learning that the governor had left the NNPP and was expected to move to the APC, I tendered my resignation, but it was not received.
“This video is to officially notify the public that I have resigned from my role as a political adviser. I am grateful for the chance to serve and for the work we carried out together over the last two years.
“I will not abandon Kwankwaso or the Kwankwasiyya movement. My loyalty remains with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and I have no intention of joining the APC.”

His resignation adds to the growing political realignments following recent developments within Kano State’s political landscape.
