IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu and his counsel Alloy Ejimakor (Left)
Uchechi Kanu, wife of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has clarified the reasons behind her husband’s apology concerning events that took place in Justice Binta Nyako’s court.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement personally signed by her and obtained on Saturday, Mrs. Kanu explained that the status and reputation of Kanu’s new counsel, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN), made it imperative for him to address the court regarding the controversy surrounding Justice Nyako’s recusal from the case.

She stated, “In court today, my husband, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, acknowledged the necessity for Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, the new lead counsel, to address the court of Justice James Omotosho regarding what transpired at Binta Nyako’s court, which shook the foundations of the Nigerian judiciary.”
Chief Agabi, a former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, stepped in to ease tensions caused by Kanu’s previous anger-fueled outbursts against Justice Nyako, which led to her stepping down from the case. His intervention aimed to restore decorum and smooth over concerns within the legal community.
The statement further revealed that Justice Omotosho, who presided over the matter, also apologized to Kanu for the prolonged delays and mishandling of his case by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

She urged the public to review the full text of the statement before drawing conclusions, adding that Agabi acted in his personal capacity to pursue dialogue and peaceful resolution of the case.
