EKO HOT BLOG reports that the demand was communicated in a letter dated January 28 and signed by the Secretary to the Senator’s Office, Engr. Ibrahim Nakwalli Kawaji. A copy of the letter, addressed to the NNPP chairman of Kura Local Government Area, Ubale Isyaku Waskas, instructed him to return “the party vehicle provided to you by the Distinguished Senator Rufai Hanga for NNPP activities in your local government” to the senator’s office at No. 48, Sokoto Road, Nasarawa GRA, Kano.
The letter set a deadline for the return of the vehicle between January 28 and January 30, 2026, adding that the vehicle would be held at the senator’s office pending resolution of the party’s internal issues. Recipients were urged to continue serving the party faithfully during the interim period.
Daily Trust reports that the directive applies to all NNPP local government chairmen within Kano Central Senatorial District, covering Dala, Dawakin Kudu, Fagge, Garun Mallam, Gezawa, Gwale, Kano Municipal, Kumbotso, Kura, Madobi, Minjibir, Nasarawa, Tarauni, Ungogo, and Warawa.
The letter further instructed that the vehicles must be handed over directly to the head of the senator’s office, Shehu Tijjani Usman Tarauni, emphasizing immediate compliance on the basis that the vehicles remain property of the party.

The directive comes amid rising defections from NNPP to APC in Kano State, highlighting tensions over party loyalty and the management of party assets at the local government level.
