- We Will Not Leave Nigerians Behind, Shettima Assures
- Commissions Tudun Biri Resettlement Scheme
- Zubaida Umar said the intervention aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda
Vice President Kashim Shettima has commissioned the Tudun Biri Resettlement Scheme in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, reaffirming President Bola Tinubu’s assurance that the Nigerian government will stand by citizens affected by tragedy.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the project, completed almost two years after a military drone misfire ravaged the Tudun Biri community, consists of 133 housing units, a school and other essential infrastructure designed to provide a fresh start for displaced families.
Speaking at the event, Shettima described the scheme as a reflection of the Tinubu administration’s people-focused governance, stressing that true leadership must be guided by compassion, justice and the restoration of human dignity.
“This resettlement scheme goes beyond physical structures. It represents responsibility, empathy and a clear message that the Nigerian state will not abandon its people in moments of adversity,” the Vice President said.
He explained that the project was implemented under the Resettlement Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflict (RSPIC), noting that similar recovery and resettlement initiatives are ongoing in several parts of the country.

According to Shettima, the intervention underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to responding promptly to humanitarian crises, rebuilding livelihoods and laying the foundation for sustainable peace.
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, praised President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their leadership and compassion, describing the project as evidence that the welfare and dignity of citizens remain at the heart of governance.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Zubaida Umar, said the intervention aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises inclusive development and people-centred recovery.
She disclosed that while 143 housing units were initially planned, 10 were converted into a school to address the educational needs of children in the resettled community, bringing the total number of completed homes to 133.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, community leaders expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for restoring hope, stability and a sense of normalcy to Tudun Biri and other communities affected by humanitarian challenges across the country.
