No North-South Agreement on 2027 Presidency - Galadima
A prominent leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and close associate of the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Buba Galadima, has dismissed claims of any existing agreement between the North and South regarding the 2027 presidential election.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in an interview with Sunday Punch, Galadima emphasized that opposition parties should focus on ensuring free and fair elections rather than prioritizing regional considerations in selecting presidential candidates.
“I don’t discuss the North and I don’t discuss the South when I speak on democracy,” he stated. “If Tinubu completes his tenure and has done well, and Nigerians choose to vote for Seyi Tinubu, I have no issue with that—provided the election is free and fair. That is democracy.”
Galadima further criticized the notion of a North-South power-sharing agreement, calling it a misconception. “Anyone who tells you there is an understanding or agreement between the North and South is a liar. He does not understand democracy or politics. I am talking about democracy, not regional politics.”
No North-South Agreement on 2027 Presidency – Galadima
His remarks come just days after the 2023 presidential candidates from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar; the Labour Party (LP)’s Peter Obi; and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai announced the formation of a coalition aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
