A 43-year-old non-teaching staff member of a public primary school in Ilorin, Kwara State, Amuda Olubukola, has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old Primary 4 pupil.

Confirming the development, NSCDC spokesperson Ayoola Michael said the Gender Unit swung into action immediately after receiving a formal complaint.
“The arrest followed a complaint received by the Gender Unit of the Command, which triggered an immediate investigation into the disturbing allegation,” he stated.
Michael added that the suspect allegedly used manipulation and force: “The victim further alleged that the suspect repeatedly promised to marry her before allegedly subjecting her to the abuse. During the incidents, he covered her mouth to prevent her from raising an alarm.”
The abuse reportedly came to light when the victim’s mother noticed physical changes in her daughter. “The case came to light after the victim’s mother reported that her daughter had allegedly become pregnant as a result of the abuse” Michael said.
During interrogation, Olubukola allegedly confessed. “The suspect admitted to the offence during interrogation. He was attempting to attribute his actions to ‘the work of the devil’,” the spokesperson revealed.
Kwara State NSCDC Commandant Abbas Mohammed condemned the act strongly. “Schools are meant to nurture, protect and inspire children, not expose them to abuse,” he declared.

“Any individual who preys on the innocence of a child, particularly within the school environment, has committed a grave offense against the society and will be made to face the full weight of the law,” Mohammed warned.
He assured the public that the suspect would be arraigned soon. “Investigation is nearing completion. The suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as the necessary legal processes are concluded.”
