The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man, Agwu Ukpo, who was seen in a viral video allegedly assaulting a woman in Aba.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, disclosed that the suspect, an indigene of Akanu Ohafia, was apprehended by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following intelligence-led efforts.

According to the police, preliminary findings indicate that the incident involved a disagreement over a pot of soup between the suspect and the victim, identified as Amarachi Chinyere.
Chinaka stated that the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation, assuring residents that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Command strongly condemned the act, describing all forms of domestic violence as unacceptable and contrary to the law.
It urged members of the public to refrain from violent conduct, stressing its commitment to ensuring justice for victims and holding offenders accountable.
“The Abia State Police Command condemns every form of domestic violence and inhumane treatment. Such behaviour is unacceptable under any circumstance, and perpetrators will be made to face the full weight of the law,” the statement said.
