Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has rejected growing speculation that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar might take over the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket for the 2027 elections.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that speaking in Abuja, Obi called Atiku a “dear elder brother and respected leader,” stating he has no fear about his political actions.

The speculation intensified after Atiku declared he would not step aside for any aspirant unless defeated at a primary, causing anxiety among Obi’s supporters following reports of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ADC coalition.
Obi, however, maintained that the emerging coalition focuses on national rescue, not rivalry. Despite belonging to the Labour Party, Obi confirmed he is part of the ADC coalition and believes all good-willed people will unite to “rescue the country.”

The former Anambra State governor also hinted strongly at his readiness to contest. He stressed that Nigeria’s next leadership must prioritize competence and sincerity.
Obi declared his qualifications and capacity, stating, “In four years, I can change the trajectory of Nigeria to a positive one.” He urged Nigerians to shift their focus from partisan politics to issues like poverty and citizens’ welfare.
