Odo-Noforija Kingdom Celebrates Eid-el-Kabir with Royal Homage, Prayers and Philanthropy (Ojude Oba)

The people of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, under Eredo LCDA in Epe Division of Lagos State, gathered in grand style on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the palace of their revered monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Olaogun Ogunlaja, to pay homage and celebrate the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir festival with him.

Ekohotblog reports that the event opened with a solemn inter-religious prayer session as Christian and Muslim faithful came together to seek divine blessings for the kingdom, Epe Division, Lagos State, and Nigeria at large.

The Christian Association of Nigeria, Eredo Chapter, led by Evangelist G.O. Adeboye, and the Muslim Society, led by the Grand Chief Imam of Odo-Noforija, Fadeelat Sheikh Abdul Barry Banjo, offered prayers and songs of thanksgiving, expressing gratitude to God for peace, life, and progress.

Special appreciation was offered for the life and reign of Oba Ogunlaja, whose leadership continues to inspire the community.

To conclude the spiritual segment, High Chief Segun Lawal, Aro of Odomola Kingdom, led a traditional prayer invoking ancestral blessings upon the kingdom.

Following the prayer session, the celebration transitioned into the (Ojude Oba) Festival, where various groups and families, including traditional chiefs, Ligbe-Oligbe-Ononlu Ogunbotu Ruling House, Oke Ajana Ruling House, Eyindi Ruling House, Progressive Excellent Women of Eredo, Starlight Social Club, and local youth groups, paid homage to Kabiyesi in colorful cultural displays.

The highlight of the day was the touching moment when Kabiyesi Oba Ogunlaja presented a life ram, a bag of rice, and a ₦100,000 cash gift to blind students from Bethsaida School for the Blind, Lagos. The students had earlier paid homage to the monarch and rendered soulful songs, stirring emotions among the crowd.

In his royal remarks, Oba Ogunlaja extended heartfelt blessings to his people and thanked everyone who joined him for the celebration.

“We are praying not only for Odo-Noforija Kingdom, but for the whole of Nigeria,” Kabiyesi stated. “We can see that things are difficult now, and as royal fathers, we will not relent in playing our fatherly role for things to get better. Lastly, I advise all the people of Odo-Noforija to continue to live in unity.”

Present at the occasion were key personalities and well-wishers including the Mufty of Odo-Noforija, Alhaji Banjo Shakiru OlaOluwa, the Chief Executive Officer of ProCare Hotel and Suites, Mr. Segun Osifeki, the President of Progressive Excellent Women of Eredo, and the Councillorship candidate for a ward in Eredo LCDA.
