The Lagos State Government has approved a new Governing Council for the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the administration and enhance the quality of education in the state’s tertiary institutions.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the approval was contained in a circular signed by Bode Agoro, the Head of Service, was announced on Friday.

The circular confirmed that Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has given his assent to the appointment of an 11-member Governing Council for the university.
“In continuation of this administration’s commitment to improve the quality of education in the State-owned higher institutions, it is hereby notified for general information that Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, has approved the membership of the Lagos State University Governing Council,” the statement read.
It added that all accounting officers across ministries and agencies should take note of the circular and ensure wide dissemination of its content.

The new council will be chaired by Babatunde Ogala (SAN), a distinguished legal practitioner, while other members include Oluseyi Badmus, Bode Makanjuola, Mojisola Tolagbe Taiwo, Shaffudeen Amuwo, Rafiu Adisa Ebiti, Kofo Durosimi-Etti, Farouk Gumel, Adenike Akanbi, Biodun Hundeyin, and Remi Desalu.
ABOUT THE CHAIRMAN
Babatunde Ogala (SAN) is a solicitor, capital market consultant, and business recovery and insolvency practitioner.
He earned his Law degree from the University of Jos (UNIJOS) in 1985 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986.
Ogala began his career as Associate Counsel at Femi Okunnu Chambers, before joining Guardian Press Limited, where he served as General Legal Adviser for five years.
Between 2007 and 2011, he served as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, where he contributed to legislative and governance reforms in the state.
The state government reaffirmed its commitment to promoting excellence, transparency, and innovation in higher education through capable leadership and sound governance.
