Ogun Monarch in Court for Assault, Granted Bail

- A suspended Ogun monarch was arraigned for assault.
- He was granted bail, and the case continues in March.
- The government suspended him for six months.
The suspended Olorile of Orile Ifo, Oba Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, was arraigned in court on Tuesday for assaulting an elderly man, Oloye Areola Abraham.

He was later granted bail as the court adjourned the case to March 3, 2025.
Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the development in a statement, saying the monarch was charged with conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
“The Kabiyesi Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, who assaulted an elderly man in a viral video, was charged to court today, February 4, 2025. He was granted bail while the case was adjourned to March 6, 2025,” Adejobi stated.
The monarch was caught on video physically assaulting Abraham, cursing him, and making threats to kill or jail him.
The victim, visibly weak, pleaded that he was unwell, but the monarch continued his aggression.

Following public outrage over the video, the Ogun State Government suspended Oba Ogunjobi for six months, citing “uncivil conduct.”
The police emphasized their commitment to upholding the rule of law, assuring the public that justice would be served.
