Ogun State government has announced that Value Jet Airline will commence passenger flights from the newly constructed Gateway International Airport (GWI) on October 7.

Meanwhile, ValueJet is scheduled to operate twice-weekly flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays along the Gateway International Airport (GWI)–Abuja route. The outbound service will leave GWI at 8:30 a.m., arriving in Abuja by 9:45 a.m., while the return flight will depart Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 4:00 p.m., touching down at GWI at 5:15 p.m.
Furthermore, tickets for the newly launched route became available on Thursday, September 25, via online booking platforms, travel agencies, and ticket counters at the Gateway International Airport. The new flight service is anticipated to greatly improve air connectivity for travelers across Ogun State, Ibadan, Lagos, and Abuja.
Governor Dapo Abiodun had previously confirmed in August that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) granted the airport Aerodrome Operational Permits, praising the facility as a model for future aviation infrastructure in Nigeria.

The airport received an Aerodrome Reference Code of 3C and an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Services (ARFFS) Category 6 rating.
Further strengthening its strategic importance, the GWI has been designated an alternate landing site for Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA). The Governor also noted that a global logistics firm is committed to operating two weekly cargo flights between London and GWI.
The airport, located along the Ilisan-Iperu Remo road, is set to boost trade, investment, and tourism in the region, with initial passenger operations focusing on direct routes to Abuja and Port Harcourt.
