Otti, Obi Holds NEC Meeting to Address Party’s Future

Amid recent legal developments, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Abia State Governor Alex Otti have jointly called for a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
The meeting will take place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, as announced by Ibrahim Umar, spokesperson for the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR).

Eko Hot Blog reports that the strategic move aims to reposition the Labour Party and address concerns regarding its future direction in light of recent events.
Umar noted that key stakeholders expected to attend the upcoming NEC meeting includes the party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, serving and former senators, senatorial candidates, and members of the House of Representatives.
Additionally, LP House of Representatives candidates from the last general election, members of the National Caretaker Committee (NTC), and loyal former governorship candidates are also anticipated to participate.
The meeting comes on the heels of a recent Supreme Court verdict that dissolved the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee (NWC), prompting a reorganization within the party’s leadership structure.
Representatives from the NLC/TUC Political Commission and the dissolved NWC are also expected to attend.
