The enforcement action came after weeks of sensitisation campaigns jointly organised by the Authority and the Association of Livestock Dealers and Breeders, during which traders were advised to operate only within government-approved livestock markets.
During the operation, officers also intercepted livestock roaming freely around the Sawmill Onipepeye area, describing the practice as a violation of the state’s Anti-Open Rearing and Grazing Law.

A total of seven rams and one goat were impounded during the exercise. Authorities stated that the operation is part of broader efforts to improve environmental sanitation, maintain public order, and ensure compliance with livestock regulations across the state.
The government urged residents and livestock owners to adhere to existing directives and seek information on approved trading locations from the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development to avoid penalties and other sanctions.
