As President Donald Trump advocated for the U.S. to “own” Gaza and called for the displacement of its population, hundreds of protesters gathered outside the White House, chanting, “Palestine is not for sale.”
Demonstrators in Washington, DC, took to the streets on Tuesday evening to oppose Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit and to demand that the Trump administration halt military aid to Israel.

Amid a heavy security presence, the crowd denounced Israeli actions in Gaza and voiced strong opposition to Trump’s proposal, which critics argue amounts to ethnic cleansing.
Michael Schirtzer, an activist at the protest, condemned Trump’s remarks as “insane” and rejected the idea that Palestinians should leave their homeland.
“The people of Palestine will be going nowhere. They are the Indigenous people of that land,” Schirtzer told Al Jazeera. “It is a colonizer mentality to say that you’re going to displace people.”
Earlier in the day, Trump claimed that Palestinians “would love” to leave Gaza if given the opportunity, reiterating his call for their “permanent” removal from the territory.

The proposal has drawn sharp criticism from Arab states and human rights organizations, which warn that forcibly removing Gaza’s residents would constitute ethnic cleansing.
Despite the backlash, Trump doubled down during a joint news conference with Netanyahu, insisting that the U.S. would “take over Gaza” after its depopulation and “own it.”
