Panic has gripped residents of Ndagbo Afara in Umuahia North LGA, Abia State, following the brutal killing of a woman and her twin children by a mentally unstable man who remains at large.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the suspect, identified as Ibekwe Augustine James, allegedly murdered his sister, Chinomso Nwabali James, along with her four-year-old twins, Moses Chris and Marvelous Chris, on Tuesday.

Reports indicate that he buried the children in a shallow grave after committing the heinous act.
According to the Abia State Police Command, the incident was reported at the Central Police Station in Umuahia after the suspect was seen dragging his sister’s lifeless body within the family compound. He fled upon being discovered by a family member.
Despite police assurances that efforts are underway to apprehend him, fear lingers among residents, who worry that he may return to carry out further attacks. Speaking anonymously, some locals urged the state government and security agencies to ensure his swift arrest.

Addressing the situation, Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, emphasized the importance of taking mentally ill individuals to psychiatric facilities for proper treatment and rehabilitation, rather than keeping them at home.

She reassured the public that the police are actively working to track down the fugitive.
