The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of its Acting National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, has elected Senator Mao Ohabunwa as the new Chairman of its Board of Trustees (BoT).
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Ohabunwa’s election took place on Friday during a meeting held at the official residence of the FCT Minister in Abuja, where Isah Dansidi was also chosen as the board’s secretary.

In his remarks during the inauguration, Mohammed said the decision marked a renewed effort to restore integrity, fairness, and internal democracy within the PDP.

He explained that the new BoT was formed to rebuild confidence among members and the public, following internal crises that had eroded the party’s founding principles.
“We are not just inaugurating a new board, but reaffirming our faith in the ideals that birthed this great party — justice, fairness, inclusivity, and respect for the rule of law,” he stated.
He noted that past leadership missteps, particularly the abandonment of zoning before the 2015 elections, had weakened the party’s unity.

According to him, the dissolution of the previous BoT led by Senator Adolphus Wabara was a necessary step to restore moral order and discipline.
Mohammed assured members that the new leadership would operate with transparency and respect for court rulings. “The PDP will never again be controlled by impunity or manipulation. We will rebuild trust and make the PDP the moral voice of Nigeria’s democracy,” he vowed.
The meeting was attended by key party figures, including National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, among others.
