Former Benue State Governor and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Chief Samuel Ortom, has restated his commitment to rebuilding the party and returning it to power in 2027.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Ortom made this known at his residence in the Judges Quarters, Makurdi, while hosting members of the PDP G-14 and key stakeholders from the 14 local government areas in Zones A and B.

The former governor reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP, dismissing rumours spread by what he called “mischief makers” about his alleged plans to defect. He expressed confidence that the party would emerge stronger and more united ahead of the next general elections.
Ortom urged party members to remain steadfast and work together to reposition the PDP, noting that though he would not seek elective office, he would fully support the party’s candidates in the 2027 polls. He also encouraged aspirants to engage in wide consultations and not be discouraged by recent defections.

Speaking on behalf of the G-14, Dr. Laha Dzever praised Ortom’s leadership and pledged continued loyalty to him.
Similarly, PDP Deputy Chairman, Hon. Azua Ashongo, advised stakeholders to present only credible candidates, while commending Ortom’s dedication to strengthening the party.
Other party leaders, including Ambassador Chive Kaave, Senator Fred Orti, Rt. Hon. William Ortyom, Mrs. Veronica Gajir, and Joel Iyua Kôrinjô, also reaffirmed their support for Ortom’s leadership and the collective goal of returning PDP to power in Benue State.
