Peter Obi has declared that he would spend only one term in office if elected president, stressing that he has no intention of remaining in power beyond four years.

According to Obi, his preference for a single four-year term is driven by the need to ensure political and economic stability in the country.
He insisted that under no circumstances would he extend his stay in office beyond one tenure, stating that he would leave after four years regardless of pressure or circumstances.
Obi also criticised the economic direction of the current administration, expressing concerns over rising living costs, increased borrowing and the broader economic challenges facing Nigerians.

The former Anambra State governor said the country is currently experiencing one of its toughest economic periods in recent history.
Obi was the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, where he finished behind Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Since the election, Obi has remained one of the leading opposition voices, regularly criticising the policies and economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration.
