- Plateau PDP Screens Senatorial, Assembly Aspirants Ahead Of 2027
- Majority of Plateau PDP aspirants emerged through consensus arrangements.

The Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State has screened three senatorial aspirants and 131 House of Assembly aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Chairman of the screening committee, Tyem Gideon Nanden, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Jos after the completion of the exercise.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Nanden said the aspirants who successfully scaled through the screening process would participate in the party’s primary elections scheduled for next Wednesday.
According to him, the majority of the aspirants emerged through consensus arrangements, including candidates contesting for the three senatorial districts in the state.
He identified the senatorial aspirants as Johnbuil Shekarau for Plateau South, Timothy Golu for Plateau Central, and Formson Godson Dalyop for Plateau North.
Nanden explained that all three aspirants emerged as consensus candidates in their respective senatorial districts.
He further disclosed that all aspirants seeking tickets for the House of Representatives also emerged through consensus, except those contesting for the Langtang North/Langtang South Federal Constituency seat, where the race remains open.
The PDP chieftain revealed that 131 aspirants are contesting for the party’s tickets across the 24 constituencies in the Plateau State House of Assembly.
He added that the party remained optimistic about conducting peaceful primary elections across the state ahead of the 2027 polls.
Nanden also disclosed that five governorship aspirants from Plateau State are currently undergoing screening in Abuja.
The aspirants include Kefas Wungak Ropshik, Sarpya Danielo, Sunday Biggs, Alfred Dapal and Alex Ladam.
Speaking on internal party matters, Nanden dismissed reports of divisions within the PDP, insisting that the party remained united under the leadership of Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary.

He also ruled out the possibility of any rival faction presenting candidates for the elections, maintaining that the PDP recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission remained united and intact.
