EKO HOT BLOG reports that Makinde made the declaration on Thursday during a mega rally held at Mapo Hall in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Speaking at the rally, the governor said Nigeria could no longer continue with what he described as “politics as usual,” stressing the need for national renewal and institutional reforms.
He said, “Nigeria can not continue with politics as usual. This is the time to reset our nation, rebuild public trust, strengthen institutions and create a system that works for all Nigerians.”
According to him, the Reset Nigeria Movement would focus on economic growth, job creation, education, healthcare, infrastructure development, power sector reforms, security and institutional strengthening.
Makinde stated that Nigeria required competent and accountable leadership capable of restoring confidence in governance and public institutions.
The governor also unveiled a media resource centre where members of the public can access campaign materials, official statements and other information relating to the movement.
Describing the APM as a formidable third force, Makinde said the platform would provide an alternative for Nigerians seeking a departure from the existing political structure.
Explaining his decision to join the presidential race, the governor said the ambition was driven by the need to rescue Nigeria from its current socio-economic challenges and replicate the developmental strides recorded in Oyo State at the national level.

“Today marks the beginning of a new journey for our dear country. We are not just declaring a candidacy, we are announcing the birth of a new nation where equity, progress and development are not just slogans but realities for every Nigerian,” he said.
