The Oyo State Government has officially postponed the highly anticipated Adire Carnival and Exhibition, earlier scheduled for Friday, June 20, 2025.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the postponement, according to Olatunbosun, was necessitated by the government’s commitment to ensuring the event meets global standards and delivers a seamless, immersive experience to both residents and visiting guests.
He assured the public that a new date for the carnival and exhibition will be communicated in due course, with all relevant stakeholders and participants duly informed.
“The decision to shift the date stems from our collective resolve to host an event of the highest quality—one that truly reflects the cultural pride and excellence of Oyo State,” Olatunbosun stated.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to tourism development, the commissioner noted that under Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership, Oyo State continues to promote and preserve its rich cultural heritage.
“As captured in the Omituntun 2.0 Roadmap for Sustainable Development, tourism remains a major pillar in our strategy to drive economic growth, generate employment, and boost internally generated revenue,” he added.
Olatunbosun highlighted several past cultural achievements of the state, including the successful hosting of landmark events such as the World Twins Festival, World Egungun Festival, World Tourism Day, Iyake International Festival, the Oyo State International Tourism Summit, and the Aso-Ofi Festival.
He explained that the Aso-Ofi Festival has been particularly impactful, prompting the government to adopt a policy that encourages civil and public servants to include Aso-Ofi in their dress code—an initiative that has revived local textile production and reaffirmed Oyo’s status as the “Manchester of Indigenous Textile Production.”
The Adire Carnival and Exhibition, jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in partnership with BIZRAIT and Adire Odua, aims to further celebrate indigenous textile artistry and craftsmanship. However, the state government emphasized the need to re-strategize to ensure a more impactful and globally competitive event.

Olatunbosun thanked all partners, participants, and members of the public for their understanding and continued support, promising that the rescheduled event will surpass expectations.
