The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has assured Nigerians that electricity supply will stabilise within 24 to 48 hours following a temporary nationwide drop caused by gas supply disruptions.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the setback followed an explosion on the Escravos–Lagos Gas Pipeline and acts of vandalism on critical infrastructure, which reduced gas supply to several thermal power plants.

The National Independent System Operator confirmed that the incident led to a sharp decline in power generation, affecting electricity distribution across the country.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Bolaji Tunji, Adelabu acknowledged the inconvenience faced by households and businesses, assuring the public that restoration efforts were progressing rapidly.
He explained that repair works on the damaged pipeline were nearing completion and that gas supply would soon resume, allowing affected power stations to return to normal operations.
The minister gave the assurance during a high-level meeting with power sector stakeholders in Abuja, stressing the urgency of restoring supply, especially during the festive season.
