President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief Arthur Christopher Mbanefo, Nigeria’s former Permanent Representative to the United Nations, who died at the age of 95.

Tinubu described the late Mbanefo as a distinguished elder statesman whose life was defined by integrity, patriotism, and exceptional service to Nigeria.

He noted that Mbanefo made lasting contributions to public service and academia, having served as Pro-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Obafemi Awolowo University, and Ahmadu Bello University.
The President also highlighted Mbanefo’s pioneering role in Nigeria’s accounting, taxation, and auditing sectors, describing him as a visionary who helped shape professional standards in the country.

Tinubu extended condolences to Mbanefo’s family, associates, and the people of Anambra State, urging them to find comfort in his enduring legacy.
