The event, taking place at the National Counter Terrorism Centre in Abuja, will bring together top security officials, legal experts, civil society representatives, and community leaders to discuss critical legislative proposals aimed at reforming Nigeria’s security and policing framework.
Among the attendees are National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, Inspector-General of Police Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, Director-General of the Department of State Services Oluwatosin Ajayi, and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.

Key points of discussion will include the proposed establishment of state police and revisions to the legal framework governing law enforcement in Nigeria.
The dialogue will feature goodwill messages from Speaker of the House Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, followed by a keynote address from Tinubu, who will underscore the constitutional imperatives for ensuring Nigeria’s peace and security.
“This event comes at a decisive moment,” Rotimi stated. “As Nigeria faces evolving internal and cross-border threats, it is crucial to achieve constitutional clarity on policing powers, inter-agency coordination, and national security oversight.”
Key outcomes from the event are anticipated to include:
1.Comprehensive recommendations on security-related bills, drawing on expert input and stakeholder engagement.
2. Development of a roadmap for improved inter-agency collaboration, addressing gaps in coordination and information sharing among Nigeria’s security agencies.
3. Greater public understanding of legislative pathways to enhance security, achieved through transparent dialogue and outreach to citizens.
4. Identification of strategic measures to strengthen border security and regional stability, ensuring a holistic approach to countering threats and promoting lasting peace.
Organizers of the event are optimistic that the dialogue will represent a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s security landscape.
