The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), commonly known as cooking gas, has significantly decreased across Nigeria as of March 14, 2025, offering much-needed relief to households.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that a recent market survey indicates that the average price for refilling a 12.5kg cylinder has dropped from approximately ₦17,000 to about ₦13,750.

Current Cooking Gas Prices Across Nigeria:

    • 1kg Cylinder: ₦1,100 – ₦1,300 per kg
    • 2kg Cylinder: ₦2,200 – ₦2,600
    • 3kg Cylinder: ₦3,300 – ₦3,900
    • 5kg Cylinder: ₦5,500 – ₦6,500
    • 6kg Cylinder: ₦6,600 – ₦7,800
    • 10kg Cylinder: ₦11,000 – ₦13,000
    • 12.5kg Cylinder: ₦13,750 – ₦16,250 (down from ₦17,000)
    • 15kg Cylinder: ₦16,500 – ₦19,500
    • 20kg Cylinder: ₦22,000 – ₦26,000
    • 25kg Cylinder: ₦27,500 – ₦32,500
    • 50kg Cylinder: ₦55,000 – ₦65,000

The decline in prices has been attributed to multiple factors, including global oil price fluctuations, foreign exchange stability, and improved domestic supply. Experts say this price reduction is a positive development, especially considering the sharp increases in gas prices experienced in previous months.
