Nigeria’s Super Eagles were denied access to the floodlights at the stadium as they prepare to face the Squirrels of Benin Republic in an African Cup of Nations Qualifier which will be played on Saturday in Benin Republic.
The Super Eagles arrived Porto Novo on Friday and went through the mandatory Covid19 tests before lodging at the Golden Tulip Hotel.
To make matters worse, the authorities claimed that the floodlights were not functional so as at 7:25pm, the lights were off and the Super Eagles had to train in darkness, doing light work out
According to a report by a Nigerian journalist in Porto Novo, coach Gernot Rohr was not happy with the treatment, but vowed that his team would get the desired result in Porto Novo. Rohr further stated that his team trained under the moonlight.
The Super Eagles left the dark stadium back to their base in Cotonou and from there, they will come back to Port Novo for the game which is billed for 5pm on Saturday, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
