Real Madrid Team Bus Involved In Accident After Liverpool Defeat
Real Madrid’s team bus was involved in a motorway accident following their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, November 27.
The crash occurred on the M40 motorway, which links London, Oxford, and Birmingham, as reported by the Daily Mail. Video footage revealed the stationary bus appearing to have been struck by a lorry. Fortunately, no players or staff were on board at the time, as the bus was transporting team equipment.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that after European matches, teams often fly home, while their buses are driven back to their base. In this case, the M40 is the standard route from northwest England toward the coast, en route to Madrid.
This is not the first bus accident involving Real Madrid. In February, the team’s bus collided with a white Toyota during an extended journey to Leipzig for a Champions League match, necessitated by airport strikes.
Real Madrid unveiled an upgraded luxury team bus in October 2024. The vehicle features high-tech branding aligned with the recent £1.5 billion renovation of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
The team’s defeat to Liverpool at Anfield saw goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo, with Kylian Mbappé missing a penalty that drew criticism. Despite the loss, midfielder Jude Bellingham defended Mbappé, stating, “The penalty isn’t why we lost. Kylian is a fantastic player under immense pressure, and he’ll deliver many great moments for us.”
Coach Carlo Ancelotti reflected on the match, praising his team’s first-half organization and defensive structure but lamenting critical errors in ball transitions and decision-making during attacks.
