EKO HOT BLOG reports that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday (today), commissioned the Yaba Overpass Bridge for use.
On arrival at the commissioning center, the Governor was received by his deputy, Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat and the state All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, who was represented by the deputy chairman.
The governor was welcomed to the venue by praise singers and cheers from Lagosians, who gathered all over him as he moved around to greet the many dignitaries on the ground.
The Yaba Overpass bridge commissioned today is one of the four that the state government has lined up for commissioning. The remaining overpasses waiting to be commissioned are at Oyingbo, Mushin, and Ikeja Overpass.
Dignitaries present at the project commissioning are Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, represented by Hon. Ademola Kasumu, Transportation Commissioner Oluwaseun Osiyemi, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation Sola Giwa, royal fathers led by representatives of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, represented by Opeluwa Onido, Oba Bashiru Oloto, Oloto of Oyo, the Onisabe of Igbobi-Sabe, in Yaba, the Chairman of Yaba, LCDA Hon. Kayode Oniyale, who led other a league of council chairmen.
Other top dignitaries at the event includes the Former High Commissioner to Ghana, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, the Managing Directors of LAMATA, Engr Abimbola Akinajo and the Managing Director of Craneburg Construction, the contractor for the Yaba Overpass Bridge Gilbert Sassine, as well as representatives of the University of Lagos and Yabatech.
According to the Senior Special Adviser on New Media to the Governor, Jubril Gawat, the Yaba Flyover is one out of 3 other Flyovers designed to make the Red Line Project easier when it starts operation, most especially to reduce Train/Vehicle interaction, to reduce accidents.
“The Flyover will ease movement for people linking Jibowu to Murtala Muhammed Way, Ojuelegba road, Tejuoso and environs.” He posted on his official X handle.
