The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the late Nana Lydia Yilwatda was the mother of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
President Tinubu, in his remarks, emphasized his belief in religious freedom, revealing that despite belonging to different faiths, he and his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, have always respected each other’s spiritual convictions.
“I inherited Islam from my family; I didn’t change. My wife is a pastor and she prays for me at all times. I have never convinced or converted her; I believe in the freedom of religion,” the President said.

He added that Nigerians, regardless of religion, worship the same Almighty God and would all be accountable to Him for their actions.
“We are praying and answerable to the same Almighty God. Our love for others is what matters; we must learn to live together as one people,” he added.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the President for attending the funeral despite his busy schedule.
The governor identified insecurity as one of the major challenges hindering development in the state and assured that his administration had put in place measures to promote peace and stability.
Mutfwang also commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for supporting displaced and vulnerable women and children across Plateau State.
Earlier, the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described his late mother as a compassionate and selfless woman who lived a life of sacrifice and service to humanity.
“She was strong, loyal and determined, a woman of humility and compassion. Whatever I gave her, she shared with our neighbours. That is the woman we are celebrating today,” Yilwatda said.
He thanked President Tinubu, state governors, lawmakers, and Nigerians who stood by his family during their period of mourning.
