In keeping with her longstanding tradition of promoting maternal and child welfare, the First Lady presented the infant with a National Birth Certificate issued by the National Population Commission (NPC).

She also gifted cash and essential baby items to Zion, extending similar gestures to other babies delivered at the hospital.
Hospital authorities confirmed that Zion Adakole was the earliest delivery at the centre in 2026, making him the officially recognised first baby of the year.
Describing the birth as symbolic, Mrs Tinubu said it represented hope, renewal and the promise that accompanies the start of a new year.
She also shared goodwill with three other babies born on January 1, as well as a set of quadruplets welcomed by Mr and Mrs Blessing Oragwu after 13 years of waiting.
The First Lady reaffirmed the Federal Government’s resolve to ensure that Nigerian children are raised in an environment that supports their growth, wellbeing and future aspirations.

During the visit, Mrs Tinubu personally cradled the newborns, offering prayers for their health, their families and the nation at large. She urged parents to nurture their children with love, noting that they are blessings and future leaders of Nigeria.
She further appealed to Nigerians to show compassion by supporting one another, stressing that improving the lives of the vulnerable should be a shared national responsibility.
The outreach is expected to extend to other health facilities within the Federal Capital Territory, including the National Hospital, Abuja.
Dignitaries who accompanied the First Lady included the Wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima; the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim; the Chairman of the National Population Commission, Mr Aminu Yusuf, alongside other government officials.
