Incoming District Governor of Rotary International, District 9112, Rotarian Lai Abidoye, has emphasized the unique leadership structure of Rotary, describing it as a seamless system of power transfer that ensures continuity, accountability, and sustainability.

Ekohotblog reports that while speaking to the press at the investiture ceremony and fundraising luncheon of the Rotary Club of Gbagada held at the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, Abidoye explained that no President can serve beyond one year in Rotary, stressing that the organization’s succession process is planned well in advance.
”In Rotary, leadership is not about one individual. Three years ahead, we already know who the next president will be. Today, the president for the 2026/2027 hands over to the 2025/2026, and as of now, the President for 2026/2027 is already known,” he stated.

The District Governor-elect further advised the newly inaugurated president of the Rotary club of gbagada, Rotarian Tosin Olawoyin, to align his plans with the club’s existing strategic framework.
”It should not be about calling it my year but recognising it as the club’s year and contributing his bit to its long-term vision,” he said.

Abidoye also charged members of the club to rally around their new President, stressing that supports from every Rotarian is essential for success.
”No matter how good you are, you cannot do it alone. The president needs maximum support from members to excel and deliver meaningful service,” Lai Abidoye concluded.
